ABSTRACT
Background: The growing elderly population in Indonesia is accompanied by an increase in the prevalence of degenerative diseases. Specific data on the disease patterns among the elderly at the village level is essential for planning targeted health interventions.
Methods: This research used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 65 elderly individuals selected by total sampling from the population of elderly visiting the Posyandu in September 2025. Data was collected secondarily from Posyandu records and analyzed descriptively to distribute frequencies based on disease type, gender, and age group.
Results: The results showed that the most common degenerative diseases were high uric acid (50.77%), followed by hypertension (44.61%), high blood sugar (36.92%), and high cholesterol (23.08%). Most respondents were female (70.77%) and in the <60 years age group (67.70%). The prevalence of all degenerative diseases was higher in women. Hypertension and high blood sugar were more common in the <60 years age group, while high cholesterol and uric acid were more dominant in the ≥60 years age group.
Conclusion: Degenerative diseases are a major health problem for the elderly in Jimbung Village, with women showing higher susceptibility. Promotive and preventive efforts, including early detection and lifestyle education, are needed, starting from pre-senior age and considering gender aspects
